Thyroid Refresh

As we get the house spiffed up and bedazzled for Christmas, there’s an extra sparkle of excitement in the air. The launch date for our new website is nearing– eeeep!

Launching Early 2018

As you may know, I’ve partnered up with Danna Bowman, the force of nature behind Thyroid Nation,  and the Thyroid Nation Radio Podcast. I swear, some sort of divine kismet was at play when our paths crossed, because soon after we met, BIG ideas began to blossom and take shape. We are complementary opposites, who erased the limitations of what we were capable of alone. Danna is the yin to my biz-partner-yang and the journey has been an exhilarating, laughter-filled roller coaster. I’ve traveled a million miles from my comfort zone heeding this call, but the faith factor is high. What we are creating has the potential to help thousands of people find the support, information, and inspiration they need to live a thyroid-healthy lifestyle, and feel better. Goosebump city!

Many of you generously participated in the survey we posted recently, and I want to say THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart. We learned SO MUCH about you. What your pain points are, what you need help with, and who you are.

One of the most heartbreaking things we learned from the 1,600+ survey responses we received is that most of you feel too tired and sick to do anything about it. You are not alone. Every single day Danna and I have kept you in mind, designing a place where the pursuit of a thyroid-friendly lifestyle can feel less overwhelming. When you don’t feel good, the internet is a powerful tool, and we are trying to use it to make up-leveling your health simple, attainable, and FUN!

Why We’re Doing This

This process has been very heart-centered for both of us, because what we’re building is the program we wish we had as thyroid patients.

Since I began making thyroid specific diet and lifestyle changes two years ago, my thyroid antibodies have been on a steady decline. A recent round of labs showed a reduction in antibodies of 51%, down from a year ago when I had dropped them down 44%. I believe deeply in what we’re creating because I have been living it since before Hypothyroid Chef was born, and it has given me my life back. It’s as true and simple as that.

What do those numbers mean? They mean I feel 10x better than I did 5 years ago, when my doctor wasn’t even testing me for or telling me I had an autoimmune disease (Hashimoto’s). When I was slogging through every day in a haze of brain fog and fatigue. When my body was bouncing from infection to infection, sick for months at a time, and on a rotation of antibiotics. When I had all but lost my inner spark.

The last two years have been a true metamorphosis.

Now, I have more energy to play with my son, nurture my family, and pursue the activities I enjoy. I’ve identified my root causes and unique triggers, and have even been able to reintroduce or occasionally indulge in foods I had eliminated. There have been setbacks and new problems to solve along the way, but now I have better tools to solve them.

The pursuit of true wellness is an ongoing and bio-individual journey. The challenge has been real, but every day that I am able to walk this path with focus and inspiration, I feel healthier and more whole. It is a priceless gift, and  worth every ounce of effort.

Danna and I, we want to make that metamorphosis attainable for you.

Our bodies change, we fall off the wagon, we forget to take care of ourselves, new challenges arise. Sometimes we need to hit the Thyroid Refresh button, and get back on track.

Is there going to be a charge for this?

There will be loads of free content on Thyroid Refresh. In addition to delivering the highest-quality, expert-written content, Thyroid Refresh will be free of advertisements. No pop-up ads, no banner ads, no sponsored posts. This allows us to maintain integrity to our mission, which is to inform, inspire, and empower you on your healing journey. For this reason, we will be asking our community for a small, reasonable fee, enabling us to continue hosting this platform, and working around the clock to help our thyroid tribe thrive.

What’s going to happen to Hypothyroid Chef?

First, don’t worry, all the recipes you know and love here are going to remain available, and FREE. However, our new project is big. Too big for me to sustainably run while maintaining this recipe blog as well. So, the recipes will migrate to Thyroid Refresh, and I will eventually be closing up shop here at Hypothyroid Chef. When you come here looking for recipes, you will be automatically redirected to my new online home (thyroidrefresh.com), where you can find me, and the previously published recipes you’re looking for. No worries, mate!

And if you follow my Hypothyroid Chef FB page, nothing will change except the website link featured on the page. That’s the plan.

Hypothyroid Chef has been a true labor of love. It has taught me so much and turned around my health. This too, was a call I was asked to heed, and now, the next phase of this life with Hashimoto’s is about to begin. It’s going to be the best one yet, and you’re invited!
