The 8 Daily Rituals of Thyroid-Healthy Living

There’s no quick fix or cure for hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s, but the good news is that there’s a lot we can do to manage our health and improve our quality of life. By making simple, sustainable changes, we can better manage symptoms and feel more like ourselves again.
But let’s be honest—navigating the world of thyroid health can be overwhelming. There’s a sea of information, misinformation, and conflicting advice to sift through. That’s where I come in.
As your thyroid advocate and health coach, one of my goals is to help you cut through the noise and make thyroid-healthy living simpler and more actionable. That’s why I distilled the common-core expert recommendations down to their essence—something so clear and concise it could fit on an index card.
I call these tenets of thyroid-healthy living The 8 Daily Rituals, or The 8 Rs for short. These aren’t just theories; they’re real, practical strategies based on the principles of functional medicine. I have lived by and reclaimed my health using the 8 Daily Rituals and have used them to transform the health of countless others in my coaching practice.

Where Did The 8 Daily Rituals Come From?
The 8 Rs began as a compilation of recommendations that the leading thyroid experts all seemed to agree upon in regards to thyroid-healthy diet & lifestyle– a greatest-hits playlist, if you will, from people like Dr. Izabella Wentz, Dr. Alan Christianson, and my dear friend and mentor, Mary Shomon. My Functional Medicine Health Coach training further validated the 8 Rs as tenets of not just thyroid-healthy but generally healthy for anyone who wants to optimize health, prevent disease, and manage the life-altering symptoms that can come with chronic illness.
The 8 Daily Rituals were put to the test as the model for THYROID30Ⓡ, a gamified wellness app that I created in 2017 and now host as part of my monthly Wellness Adventures inside my Thriver's Club Community. Anyone who works with me becomes well-acquainted with ‘The 8 Rs’ and will integrate them to reclaim their health and become empowered patients.
Today, we use The 8 Rs in essentially everything we do in the Thrivers’ Club. The wellness challenges, workshops, coaching calls, and content all revolve around these 8 Daily Rituals of Thyroid-healthy Living. If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’re probably already implementing some of them!
